Which BS standard applies to your site?

BS 5839-1 covers commercial premises — offices, retail, hospitality, light industrial. BS 5839-6 covers residential dwellings, including HMOs. Category L1 through L5 covers life-protection variants; Category P1 through P2 covers property-protection. The site walk identifies the correct category based on building use and occupancy before any quote goes out, so the system you buy is the system the fire risk assessor will accept.

Compliance and certification

Every install ships with a design document, zone drawings and a commissioning record suitable for fire risk assessment files. Annual servicing follows BS 5839-1 principles. CHAS is in progress; BAFE SP203-1 sits on our 2026 certification roadmap. If your insurer or fire risk assessor requires a BAFE-certified installer specifically today, we will say so before quoting.
