CCTV Maintenance & Repair in Hull

Most CCTV systems fail quietly. The cameras stay on the wall, the little red lights glow, and nobody discovers the NVR stopped recording four months ago until the morning after a break-in. We service and repair CCTV across Hull and East Yorkshire — any brand, and crucially, any original installer. If the firm that fitted your system has vanished, stopped answering, or quoted silly money to come back, that is exactly the work we take on.

CCTV health checks and servicing

A health check covers the things that silently kill a system: every camera tested for focus, alignment and night-vision performance, lenses and housings cleaned (Hull's salt air and seagulls are genuinely hard on dome covers), recording verified against your retention period, hard-drive health tested before it fails rather than after, time and date confirmed accurate — a wrong timestamp can sink footage as evidence — and remote viewing re-tested on your phone. Everything goes into a written report, with anything needing attention itemised.

Common faults we repair

No recording is the big one, usually a worn-out hard drive or a schedule wiped by a power cut. After that: night vision failed on one camera (IR board or water ingress), dead cameras after cable damage or PSU failure, remote viewing lost after a broadband router swap, flickering or ghosting images, and NVRs that lock up weekly. Most faults are diagnosed and fixed in a single visit — surveillance-rated drives and common spares travel on the van.

We service systems we didn't install

The orphaned-system problem is everywhere: the installer retired, the company folded, or the relationship soured, and now nobody will touch the kit. We work daily on Hikvision and Dahua hardware and handle most other commercial and domestic brands. The first visit produces an honest written assessment — what is on the wall, what condition it is in, what is worth keeping and what is end-of-life — so you can decide between repair, partial upgrade or eventual replacement with real information instead of a sales pitch. If your system is simply old and you want to weigh up replacement, our CCTV installation service covers the full-system route.

What a repair visit looks like

The engineer arrives with the symptoms already triaged from your call — no recording, dead camera, lost remote view — and works through the system from the recorder outward: drive health, recording schedules, camera feeds, power supplies, then cabling. Most single faults resolve on the first visit. Where a part has to be ordered, you get a straight answer on cost and lead time before anything is committed, and a temporary workaround where one exists — re-pointing a working camera to cover the dead one's zone, for example. Every visit ends with the system demonstrably recording and the app working on your phone, not a promise that it should be.

Upgrades without full replacement

Plenty of "broken" systems just need targeted surgery: a larger hard drive to extend retention, one camera swapped for a 4K unit where detail matters, an old DVR replaced while the existing cameras and cabling stay, or remote viewing rebuilt after a broadband change. Because we assess brand-agnostically, the recommendation is whatever spends the least of your money for the result — which sometimes means telling you the system is fine and only needed a service.

Maintenance contracts

For sites that need guaranteed cover rather than ad-hoc callouts, annual maintenance contracts bundle the scheduled service visit, priority response on faults, and the dated documentation insurers ask for. The tiers and what each one actually includes are laid out honestly in our maintenance tier comparison — including who genuinely does not need a contract at all.

Commercial compliance servicing

Licensed premises, care settings and high-shrink retail carry CCTV obligations that go beyond "does it record" — retention periods, signage, documented servicing. For these sites we align the service schedule with the compliance calendar and supply reports formatted for the licensing or audit file. Cover runs Mon–Fri 07:30–17:00, plus weekend emergency callouts when a commercial system goes down at the worst possible moment.

Areas we cover

All Hull postcodes from our HU4 base, plus Beverley, Cottingham, Hessle, Anlaby, Willerby and the wider East Riding. Commercial contracts extend across the Humber region.
